still alive

Just a quick word to let you all know that I made it safely to Paris after a day of madness with American Airlines and AirFrance (which is just sooooo nice!). My bags arrived two days later.

School starts next week, I sign a contract for an apartment in a great neighborhood tomorrow, and I'm going to smoke shisha, or whatever that weird flavored tobacco stuff is, with Claire tonight. Life is good!

Why the internet is sometimes good

A nifty self-programmed internet radio site thing (discovery credit to Claire on this one):

And to get you started, here's Kid Koala, "Fender Bender" for all you turntablism kids out there.

waxing nostalgic

It is 2:50 AM on Friday night/Saturday morning and I am sitting listening to the rain fall outside the room Matt has loaned me while I've been in California these last two weeks. It is time for me to start packing, since I leave for Paris in about 8 hours.

My whirlwind tour of the Bay Area is coming to an end, and I'd like to take this moment to thank all of the people I've visited here, family and friends alike, for still being there, for accommodating my frenetic pace as I tried to see everyone, for making it easy to come home.

To the couple of people I tried to see but couldn't, you will be at the top of the list next time. But you could make my life a lot easier if you moved to San Francisco proper, or Paris. What do you say?

In short, it has been a fabulous two weeks. Thanks all y'all.
